I would guess you have one of two problems: 1. You have a bad data dump, which does not include this particular author, or which perhaps doesn't contain any authors. Try searching on "414281A", which doesn't contain the 'OL' prefix, or perhaps try searching for "49A", (Lewis Herrick Flint, a very early author in the data set). If the search still returns nothing, you may have an "edition-only" data dump or perhaps a truncated one. Those of us who have played with OL data dumps know that they are not all created equal. Try again getting a new version at "http://openlibrary.org/data/ol_dump_latest.txt.gz". 2. Your search program may not be capable of dealing with the size of the dump. IIRC, the last dump I got from OL was a). about 22 gig and b). incomplete. It may be that your search program just can't search past 4,294,967,296 bytes (the extent of a 32-bit integer). FWIW, the July 2009 dump I got back last January /did/ have an entry for OL414281A: {"name": "Gladys Benko", "personal_name": "Gladys Benko", "last_modified": {"type": "/type/datetime", "value": "2008-09-02 21:34:21.624464"}, "key": "/a/OL414281A", "birth_date": "1949", "type": {"key": "/type/author"}, "id": 1136976, "revision": 2} _______________________________________________ Ol-tech mailing list [email protected] http://mail.archive.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/ol-tech To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send email to [email protected]
