Here's an example of one of those records: LEADER: 00689nam 22001817a 4500 001 v0173330 008 030919s2003 us |||||||||||||||||eng d 020 $a0819448346 037 $bCoutts;20020186;09/19/03$c0000.00 050 4 $aR 100 $a 245 00 $aMedical imaging 2003 :$bPACS and integrated medical information systems ; design and evaluation ; 18-20 February 2003, San Diego, California, USA /$cH.K. From this, it appears that the "Bad author" can be simply deleted -- the error comes from the empty 100 $a (very bad use of MARC). If you do a search on the Bad author you can also see some rather odd subjects consisting of date ranges in parentheses and using superscripts. I tried looking up a record for one of those but couldn't actually get to the original record. Whatta mess! kc On 8/21/12 1:04 PM, Ben Companjen wrote: > Hi, > > On LaunchPad I found a 'bug' that may be easy to clean up [1]. > There apparently was a time that imported MARC records with an empty > 100a (human author) field were assigned an author that now goes by the > name "Bad author - no name" [2].
