Anand - there is a code in the Leader of the MARC record for serial publications - In a book, the leader is:
LEADER: 01732cam 2200349Ii 4500 For a serial the first "am" becomes "as" LEADER: 01732cas 2200349Ii 4500 That particular record, however, is not a serial publication but someone's "journal" in the sense of a diary. However, there are serial publications that have been digitized, and if the MARC records are correct you will find that "as" code in the leader. kc On 7/28/14, 4:48 AM, Anand Chitipothu wrote: > Dear librarians, > > What is the best way to identify if a MARC record is an edition or a > journal? > > For example, ImportBot recently imported > https://openlibrary.org/books/OL25537505M/Weekly_journal_of_commerce > > from MARC record > https://openlibrary.org/show-records/ia:weeklyjournalofc2718unse > > I think that should not get into Open Library as it is not an edition.
