Hello everybody,

I am currently developing an iOS based app for managing one’s personal book
collection. The user can scan the book’s barcode or enter its title or author
to get the book’s data from OpenLibrary and add it to the app’s database. If
OpenLibrary doesn’t have a record for the searched book yet, the user can add
the book manually to the app by entering the data herself (this also includes
taking a picture with the phone’s camera for adding a cover).
Now it would be great if these new book records could be made available to
OpenLibrary as well (of course with the user’s consent). The OpenLibrary API
doesn’t seem to provide the functionality for creating a new account, logging
in and adding or editing a record and I was told that the site is not in active
development at the moment. Since I am a c++ developer and not very fluent in
web development, I was wondering what it would take to add these features to
the API and whether this kind of usage would even be approved by
OpenLibrary.org?

Regards,

Birgit
