I'm pretty sure that the Huck brake systems were long gone by 58 so as long
as nobodys changed anything (like the rear end) then you will have the
Bendix style brake. They will have an adjuster slot near the bottom of the
brake backing plate that you insert a "brake spoon" or similar tool to
rotate the star adjuster. It is likely that one or more of the adjusters
will be frozen and will require that you take off the wheels, brake drums,
etc. to access the adjusters to disassemble and free them up.
If the brake pedal sinks to the floor and there is no fluid leaking anywhere
under the truck then the master cyl is bypassing internally. You'll of
course need to rebuild it or replace it. If the truck has been sitting for a
period of time, be prepared for brake fluid leaks elsewhere as you start
using the brakes. Rust and crud in each wheel cylinder will start breaking
loose as they are forced to move again. In some cases, the rust will seize
the pistons in the wheel cyls and they wont work at all.
I'm not trying to be an alarmist, it's just very common on vehicles that
sit. It just depends on the conditions present when the vehicle was parked
and stored.
