I stewed a little bit deciding whether to respond to your comments and decided
to go ahead.
First off, you shouldn't be so hard on the Chinese. If it weren't for them, we
wouldn't be able to get a lot of the parts that we need to restore these
trucks. Sure some are junk but others will do and the list sure can inform
people of what is and what isn't acceptable. Besides, most of us aren't
entering competition.
Secondly, your assertion that the knockoff visors are cheaply made and don't
fit well. Well, I don't know your criteria but the Fultons when brand new were
a POS also but I guess to your point they were at least an American Made POS. I
have a knockoff and like it better than the Fulton as all the bracketry is
stainless steel.
Thirdly, the assertion that Fultons are readily available in "good shape". Yeah
I'll agree with the readily available statement but in good shape!. For cars
maybe - not trucks. Again I don't know what your criteria is. Just look at some
of the pictures of the used ones in your source references. I wouldn't put any
of them on my truck.
Any lastly, your remarks about people "who think they know everything" and
"making people look foolish". I've been on the list for some years now and have
never seen this. The motto has always been that no question is a dumb question.
If someone puts out some info that is not necessarily right then corrections
are in order so that the list doesn't take it as gospel. These corrections come
in all the time. I for one would like "experts" like you to correct things that
may be incorrect - that's how the list learns. We don't have the benefit of "75
restorations" under our belts.
Just remember, gospel should be gospel but opinions generate discussion.

....... to date i have done close to 75 restorations ....... There are some
people on here who think they know everything because they have several trucks
and try to make other people look like fools....... so thats why i stay away.
