Hey Nick

Just for conversations sake, did you shim up your rad support any? I just got
finished installing the hood on my'50 and I shimmed the radiator support about
1/8" and then used a floor jack to "gently" raise the back of the fenders.
Tightened all bolts while the fender was in the up position and it turned out
looking very nice - not perfect - but very nice.

Yeah Lee, I've been thru this sequence four times so far. His write up is word
for word out of the Shop Manual. I'm thinking my new outer cowls are a little
too long. We'll see on the fifth and sixth tries.

Subject: [old-chevy-truck] Update - Part Deux

> This saga may never end. All the front end sheet metal is on and the hood
and fenders just will not align properly. The man who did the initial fit
up prior to paint is long gone and unreachable and we are running out of
options. Both fenders are up all the way and seem to be bottoming out under
the cowl as they should. Hood is completely down after a lot of adjustment
but there is still about 1/2 inch needed to close the seam between the hood
and the fenders. It's looking pretty ugly. Tuesday I am removing eveything
but the hood and will try elongating a bunch of holes both in the fenders
and where the skirts mount to the firewall to see if I can coax that last
1/2" to close up. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the initial fitup
before painting but I can't believe it was right to begin with. We'll see.
Wish me luck.
