Not sure what was original but I cleaned my hood latch and hinges down to shiny
metal. Liked the look so well I just put clear coat on them - kind of retro
looking!

metal pretty easy. The question I have is what kind of finish is this
suppose to have. I can't see how you would paint it with all the
parts that move but am concerneed about rust if left bare.
Any advice would be great.
