I have a friend with a 1946 which has almost the identical engine in it (early 60s 235). He still has the original tranny as well as the foot starter. I don't think the engine mounts were modified, either.
From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Ron Sent: Saturday, August 21, 2010 8:00 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [old-chevy-truck] Engine swap Question I have a 54 1/2 ton with an engine in an unknown condition and missing things like carbs, air filter, generator, coil, etc. I have a chance to get a later model 230 6 cylinder from an early 60's Nova. I realize this isn't keeping it stock, but I'm curious if others may have done something similiar and how much work will it be. I assume that engine mounts may need to be changed and the transmission may not be a direct swap either. And I probably can't keep the foot starter. Any suggestions pro or con would be appreciated.
