lets see i was 9 yrs old my mother had just gotten her new used car, dad
wanted to get rid of the 1968 olds f-85.
after a few days of mom explaining why i should get the car to learn how
to work on cars. i was handed the keys and the car was moved on the side of
the house where i would play with it. at 14 i stole the 1969 98 out of the
drivway. and was tearing up my neighbor hood. it was the first time i ever
seen or heard that ocean linner spin the tires off the rims.
i was set on dumping my massive 250 cubed inline six with my 2 speed
jetway trans for a big block.but found a 1970 w-31 that was mangles so i
bought its driveline. was impressed that a 350 could get the job done.than i
eventually went 455 and never wanted anything else under the hood. back
then who knew that one day i would be looking for another 1968 olds f-85
with a 6 cyl and 2 speed trans in average condition. ever since my mom
passed away in 1997 i have been looking for the car she fought so hard with
my dad to give me.
threw out the years as a adult and even as a small child there has allways
been oldsmobiles around from 1966-1988 model yrs. my father must of owned 12
1969 cutlass's sme 4 doors some spoer models. so i guess for me its been
in my blood.
but if any one had leads on a decent 68 olds f-85 pls let me know.
i have many other models and aside of my hurst olds i owned this 68 would
be the most important car in my stable once i aquire it.
take care

Hello
I was about 14 yrs old,, around abouts 1976,my late father owned a 1970
Toro.
We lived in San Fran and he used to take me to Bay meadows and Goldengate
fields horse tracks.
One day there was a horse running in IIRC Santa Rosa and we took the Toro
out early A.M.
He looked over at me when we got on the freeway and said,"Son ya gotta run
these engines once and a while to keep them clean!
He proceeded to matt the gas pedal to the floor and keep it there, the Toro
came to life in a roar from hiway speed!
I have never owned a Toro.
I have owned many diff. brand cars,,,but none could keep up to that first
Olds i once owned in my youth.

Great answers and insite to one and all on this, I see that I missed another
type of Olds owner, those that are Toranado fans. I have always liked these
cars, but never owned one.
