And just to throw in another source of information:
The 1973 issue of Consumer Reports shows the Oldsmobile Delta 88 with the
350 as weighing 4500 lbs. I believe that CR always measured with all
fluids, a full tank of gas, etc.
Add in the extra weight of the big block and probably a TH400 trans (unless
the 350 version of the full-sizers also came with the TH400?), and you've
got a good ballpark.
For reference, the same year Olds 98, with all its luxury doodads and the
455, scales in at 4820 lbs according to the same source.
I don't have the sheet that shows if they take heavily optioned cars or not
when they do this calculation, though.
Still, being able to get it weighed in person is always nice. Now if only
I knew where in my area of NJ to do that for free (or at all, for that
matter), I'd be happy.
