Then we would need to know what the right side head is (it's unlikely a dealer would need to replace both heads), and then we have the issue of the W-27 rear axle, which is certainly out of place. An average buyer wouldn't add that to his option list, unless he was buying a preformance car. Logic states that car is *not* a performance car as originally purchased.

I agree with your conclusions about this particular car, but refits to the #8 heads were quite common in the '70's and early '80's. You got hardened valve seats for unleaded gas and lower compression, both beneficial on a daily driver.
