Nearing end of LONG process of getting from list of PN'd bolts needed to mount all brackets and accessories on 1970 455 w/ AC. Most were easy, but a few had no length spec in the manuals, had to remove know correct units from intact assemblies. Should get done organizing all them numbers and have that lot bagged and tagged today.

Anyhow, turns out I am short on [they are hiding in the pails of misc. Fasteners? Need to get a washing machine going again!] the alternator PIVOT bolts, and the long AC frt Cast Iron Bracket to Head bolts- 3/8 dia. x 3 to 3.12" long.

If any of you have spares, I will be glad to buy them. Stock Olds fasteners, please, with typical head markings like "TR" or "M", and Grade 5 markings [3 radial lines]. Not generic harware store items. Contact me per below, please, with cost delivered to 48911.

Sold '67 Toro Ign Switch bezel, leaving the switch behind. Clever plan is to sell it. I decide to test it first, 'cause 3 of the last 4 I tried for the '66 442... failed to ground the GND terminal in the START position- thus the GEN lite test feature is inoperative.

This one also fails. And, SOL terminal seems to have continuity to BAT even in the RUN position... WTH?

Un-crimp the crimnps, dismantle.

Soiled and darkened contacts. Easy fix.

GND terminal it connected to base of switch by spring loaded double ended pin shaped contacts. Apparently, this circuit had at some time run excess current, or had excess resistance, and heated enough to weaken the spring, and crustify the nearby plastic. Easy fix. Ream hole out with correct drill bit, replace spring with stronger unit.

Clean all contacts, apply modern silicone grease, and re-assemble.

GND contact now works just like it should
Still need to verify with actual starter solenoid that SOL termimal passes juice only in START position.

Anybow, anyone need a nice rebuilt '66-67 Olds Ignition Switch, that works correctly?

Otherwise, off to eVil with it. Stamped PN last-3 is 672, should be Gr. 2.188, PN 1116710 per the CD PNM. 72 PNM says PN 1116685 is for all 66-67 Olds; no '672 listed at all. I guess they kept several folks on the payroll just to change PN's at random.

Stopped at the scrapyard to pay off some stuff yesterday, in comes a fresh out of the truck? '59-60 Olds [GMC truck?] 371 CID motor and Auto Trans. 2-bbl, 4" bore says the casting. Engine ID lacks a letter, just 5 numbers, so the expert on hand says it might be not an Oldsmobile car but a GMC truck engine. Not much salvageable. I grabbed the water neck, some carb fittings, trans link teensy yoke, spark wire holders, etc. Had the non-tumor oil pan, and adapter for spin-on oil filter [broke]. Grabbed oil filter adapter anyhow... because 1) it still has a REALLY OLD AC PF-7? Oil filter, with nut shape on the bottom, and 2) the OP snesor, with rubber condom/seal was still intact... Which Dr. Oldmobile was in need of.

Further back is a red ribbed rocker cover motor- what is that? looks to be a pre-64 394 engine. alas, it is just a 2-bbl, and pretty well beat to death, with not even one part to remove and save. Well, I did find the rubber part of the spark wire holder on the ground nearby.

Another Olds engine turns out to be a '71 350, 7 heads, pretty beat up though, had to leave that one there also.

I got to get a truck back in business.
