Karl,

And for bonus points... who can identify this throttle or cruise control
component?
I am guessing it's a 1964 part, and it's mounted to the rear boss at the
back of the driver side of the intake. Anyone recognize this?

It's the 2-speed Jet-A-Way electric kickdown switch for a '64 F-85/Cutlass, which mounts on the left rear of the intake manifold and attaches to the carb linkage on the left side of the carb. There's one mounted on my '64 Cutlass right now and another spare one sitting on my parts shelf in my carport. The bellcrank throttle rod goes directly to the carb, and then the carb accuates the electric kickdown switch. It's '64 only. '65 and later had the electric kickdown switch incorporated into the bellcrank off the firewall on a F-85/Cutlass. Those 2 electric kickdown switches work both transmission downshift and cues the converter's varible stall.

As an interesting note for owners of '65-'67(maybe) Olds A-bodies, the firewall bellcrank linkage for '64 is far superior to that linkage for an automatic equiped car for those years. The '64 firewall bellcrank linkage is identical for both manual and automatic transmissions, unlike the '65 and later cars with 2 different firewall bellcranks. When installing a TH350 or TH400 in a '65 and later automatic car, it would behoove one to obtain the firewall bellcrank assembly from a '64 and use it instead of the existing one on the car. Everything will work much smoother, since the electric kickdown for the TH350 and TH400 work differently. I have 2 complete firewall bellcrank assemblies to install on the '65 Vista Cruiser and the '65 F-85 4-door when those cars get TH400s. The Vista Cruiser will get hers shortly.
