Be very careful about flushing a crudded up engine. When you flush, a lot of debris gets loose and ends up in the oil pan, and gets sucked into the pickup screen. Two things can happen: 1. Low oil pressure and 2. a potential for a stuck relief valve in the oil pump.
I would either leave it alone, or pull it apart and clean it properly. A diet of diesel motor oil will clean it up over time.
