Joe all I have left is a picture of my 64 G/G vette leaving the line at US
131 dragway the week of a Popular Hotrodding magazine meet. I still use it
as my desktop on an old computer. Since this is an Olds site I didn't think
it would be appropriate.

Milton you must remember being able to set up a drag race chassis that

the 14 years I raced. Just a Clutch-turbo in the early Pro stock days.
Having full command of the RPM range and making adjustments only with
the
accelerator pedal for chassis reaction, traction conditions resulting

axle ratio, tire size, lane choice or weather. All while trying to not

I got from leaving the starting line with the front wheels 22" off the
ground and grabbing 2nd gear before they touched the ground. Better hope
the
wheels are pointed down the track, 'cause the fronts aren't gonna be on
the
ground long enough to steer with. I can't do it now but I loved it when I
could.

Willis,
That sound like a fantastic ride. Do you have any photos of your old rides
on the web?
I agree on driving your own car and there are still classes that don't
allow electronics. I am a big fan of all the nostalgia, gasser, and other
classes that run old time tech.
In fact in big time NHRA now it is all mental, not much physical about
driving. You see the 110lb. girls driving now. all air shifters and no
clutches etc. But they fly!!
Earlier you said thanks for listening to the Old Guy. I will listen to
anything you guys have to say. I wish you would say more, with all the
experience you have. You can teach us much, Old Master.
