Subject: Needed - Power Steering Pump Brace
Looking for the side brace for a power steering pump that attaches to the
side of the block. This is for a BBO in a '70 Cutlass.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Is there a difference? I'm using the pump that I had on my SBO. When
looking at friend's cars, I noticed everything looks the same except they
had the third brace. The brace has two holes where it attaches to the
engine - the chassis manual says to use one hole for BB and the other for
SB.
=======================================
This is the 6-8" stamped steel brace that runs from outboard edge of PS
bracket to fwd hole of the LH xst manifold, correct?
CSM says use Hole A for SB, Hole B for BB. In my experience, however, it has
not been QUITE that easy. I had fits getting one to fit on a '71 SB...
finally found that there are at least 2 different types of 2-hole 3rd
braces. One has offsets and kinks, the other is a relatively simple 90' bent

As you see, not a chance the one type gwan fit thet ther '71 W31 motor [yes,
that's what it is]
Other one fits perfectly.
Anyhoo, I probably have one of each. Not too pricey.
Also, is there some kind of re-enforcement ring that goes in the bottom
pulley? If so, I need one of those as well.
==================
Ayep, NoAC apps use the thinner 2g pulley, and a "stiffener" ring.
I have several of those on hand. Not too pricey.
I could also use some additional brain cells, but that's another story.
====================
I could spare a few of the less industrous ones, I guess, they were slated
to be killed off next weekend anyhow.
