I went to look at the 70 Olds 98 today that I had mentioned about a few days
ago. I didn't want the motor if it was completely locked up so I took up a
ratchet and socket and pulled the plugs and soaked the cylinders with
penetrating oil for a couple of hours while the owner showed me all his
other olds parts for sale. Came back a couple hours later after gabbing and
put the socket on the harmonic balancer and it moved with very little
effort. I only moved it about a quarter inch. Didn't want to do any damage
but just wanted to make sure it wasn't seized. I think it will be alright.
I also bought a 74 455 bored .060, completely rebuilt with all new parts
less than 4000 miles ago. He put in a high volume oil pump and ran the oil
pan dry. Scored 2 main bearings. I also bought a 68 455 block with C heads
and a few other things. I don't know when I will be going to get this
stuff, but if anyone is interested in parts off the 70 98 let me know. The
car is very much complete with very little rust. Contact me privately at
