Traction Control Question

I own a 1995 Cutlass Ciera and it has a traction control light. I so far haven't been in a situation where I needed traction control but I do notice the light come on when I start the car. I have been on many sites and none say that this car or any other A-body ever came with traction control. My question is that is there really traction control or do I just have a light since they were intending to install traction control but never did? Any idea would greatly be appreciated.
