Subject: 400 crank
Hi, A young friend of mine is restoring a 66 442. I am trying to help.
Anyone have a 400 crank for a 66 or 67 442? I belive 425 is the same. Will
be for a 4 speed. I think we can drill for the pilot
bushing.
===============
I might have a spare
yeah, I found a 425 recently out in my yard of cars.
forgot I had it.
will need drill or whatnot no doubt.
What is a good price for one?
===================
Good for me or good for you?
:-)
I can discuss prices privately
I found one that has been turned,
but has been stored laying down. Would you have the crank reground since
it has been stored Improperly? Thanks, Troy

If lying down is a problem, then standing up is far worse
What, is gravity going to deform it?
If so, then standing on end is far, far worse, because ALL of the weight
goes thru the lower end.
And, you better hang it every other week too, to stretch out the
malformations that standing put in.
Seriously, the effects of gravity on a crank are INCONSEQUENTIAL compared to
the forces it sees while in duty- think about it.
Most of my cranks are lying down on wooden shelves
many are in the motor yet- I hope that is supported well enough!
some are standing in the garage.
The ONLY problem with standing is that they tend to get bumped, tip over,
and thus get damaged or damage other items.
Roger's Engine shop had 'em hanging on a rack.
