Thanks for calling be back on my questions.The
crankshafts have the number 384722 on them.I don't really know that much
about the 425 engines.
================
that's the usual 425 crank
very handy to have
also = 66-67 E-400 442 motor.
I got this block that has the number 386525 A.
I also got a set of A and B heads.
Now the question I have is about this lifter angle.
It is 45 degrees instead of 39 degrees?
====================
A block is 1965 only, small lifters, 45' lifter bank angle
A heads fit best on A and B blocks
ck stamped app'n ID on end on flat pad- if stamped for 442 apps, might fetch
$$
B heads, 1966, might fit 34 or 39 motors. Ck for big valves [2-1/16"] and of
course the app'n stamp too- if Toro they will be big valve and 39'
compatible. If 442 they might fetch $$$. If T suffix, that's Tri-power,
maybe more $.
Will a camshaft work in a 425 and 455,or does it have to be made
specifically for a 45 degree lifter angle?
===============
45' blocks must use 45' cams, and ditto for 39'
I tried mix-n-match back when I was young and cluless, the results were not
disastrous but far from stellar performance too- DOG. ran like crap. [45'
cam from 330 which was HOT into a stock 403]
The reason that I am asking is because I got a few camshafts that say 45
degrees on the end. So I am wondering if they would work in a 455,or only a
425.
==================
45' blocks ONLY
1965 A or B block
1966 non-Toro 425's
some early 1967 non-Toro 425's
oh, and the 330's of course.
Do you know anybody that races a 425?
This one cam is pretty radical with .600 lift!
===============
really? that is pretty excessive
need special att'n to details to use that much lift.
no 425 racers real handy
you might try at realoldspower.com, see if anyone bites at a for sale ad.
There is some of this stuff that I am keeping,but I would like to get rid of
a lot of it too.Are 425 rods worth anything,or scrap?
====================
Not worth a damn thing
I will send you some sh'g $ and you can send all the 425 rods and cranks
right to me, I will get rid of them for ya, ok?
:-)
oh, hey, some of the early motors used a smaller crnk snout bolt
1/2-NF x 1.25, Grade 8.
I need one of them right now.
Any of your new items sport this early type crank front bolt?
WANTED:
