Hello Chris and welcome back!
I am sorry to hear you lost that wonderful job making
barrels full of chips.  I had a lath operator job many
years ago and really enjoyed it.  But after a few
months of making piles of chips and scrap they asked
me to move up to running the cut off saw and sweeping
the floor. Then to painting. Then @####$Q$%
SO do not feel alone in the world of unemployed 
X-machinest!  Get a CDL and drive truck!  Every other
body in the country is.
