Finally got a chance to go out in the boonies yesterday, had to fetch that pinion bolt, a set of heads, and a differential from a van. Brother not home, torch too well hidden, I had to remove the diff with hand tools. What fun. Cordless impact cannot access the bolts, which are too large anyhow, except the shock mount ones. Note to self: put impact swivel in the tool case. I get the diff out by unbolting it from the springs. Only 4 of the 8 nuts had to be removed, then the keeper plate was free to move. That leaves two very rusty park brake cables.

aha!

Cordless recip saw, with _carbide grit_ blade!
Went thru #1 easily, halfway thru #2 the battery died... all 4 of the batteries are weak sisters now. Maybe I can get one for Xmas. Whole new saw, even.

Found the pinion bolt in a different differential, still no idea where I put that '69 12-bolt, pretty sure I didn't sell it for scrap. No, I would have at least removed the yoke for future use.

Brought the latest 403 T/A motor into town for inspectigation, pix on request.
Who needs a good 403 for cheap?

Loaded the truck with engine, diff, heads, small pcs, and then firewood for the house, and got back in time to see Happy Feet with the family.

I got a few NOS GM pcs onto ebay the other day too, watch for more as I get time to list them:
