This obscene wife's-tail/urban legend puts me into a furious rage every
single time I hear it! It's 1000% bull crap!

GM had a corporate wide ban on *****any***** engine bigger than 400 CID in
any A-body or pony car from 1965 to 1969, inclusive, period. 425s in '65
442s did not happen, ever. Chevy would have just loved to stick a 425HP 427
into a '65 Chevelle, but the first person who did it would have been fired.
1970 was the first year for over 400 CID in A-bodies and pony cars. Hurst
cars, Yenkos, Royal Pontiacs, etc., prior to 1970 were *****dealer*****
installed over 400 CID engines with *****no***** factory documentation.

Your friend is looking for hen's teeth. It doesn't exist, except in
someone's mind.
