I think engine oil brand is often a case of personal choice. I was around Howard-Willy from 1958 to 1964, when he died, and around Kahan (the new buyer of the dealership) from 1964 to 1979. I was at Ronnie's from 1969 to 1975. Howard-Willy and Kahan only used conventional engine oils from Quaker State and bought both bulk 55 gallon drums and cases of quarts and gallons.
