Yes, 'phpSessionDir' sounds more appropriate. Thanks, I will modify it.
The current code clears /tmp/sess* and /tmp/php*.

I haven't looked at the logic being used to clear these files -
earlier it was coded to remove everthing called /tmp/*sess* or
something similar. I suggest that this be changed to simply remove all
files recursively under this directory. The reason is that at greater
scales that we are now running, the session files are now stored in a
directory heirarchy so we need to do something like "rm -rf
$phpSessionDir/*"
