I think that is a great idea. In fact, it is exactly what Apple did with the iPhone, which has a direct YouTube browser. In our case, a "YouTube Activity" would be a great solution. For similar approaches on Linux, see http://tecnocode.co.uk/2007/10/12/totem-youtube-plugin/ http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2008/04/04/play-youtube-videos-from-the-totem-movie-player/ http://www.soccio.it/michelinux/2008/03/29/h264-youtube-video-in-totem/en/ There are a number of interesting hurdles to jump, like whether to require the user to install proprietary codecs themselves or ship them in the activity bundle, but either way I think it is a good idea. - --Ben -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAkmDIUEACgkQUJT6e6HFtqQh6gCbBi6JTT9p8+FYcxu39fuIddPa CMEAn12E34U43m1hRtZ+MI79udZdhTxn =CzBC -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Olpc-open mailing list [email protected] http://lists.laptop.org/listinfo/olpc-open
