Hello,
I won't type out a big
argument in favour of SDL here, but I wonder, is there a suitable forum
where we can lobby for such things?
I would say this list would probably be the best place to start the discussion. According to the list's purpose:
This is a mailing list for the discussion of the base olpc software platform. This includes kernel, base libraries, core X issues and basic desktop libraries and runtime.
Has any decision been made on the inclusion/exclusion of the SDL library
( http://www.libsdl.org/index.php ) ? I'm quite keen to make sure that
SDL is in, and stays in, the core system.
SDL 1.2 is still in the SRPMS for the OLPC project on the fedora server, but AFAIK it is not being used when the actual OS Image is being created.
SDL in itself is not that big, but did you also want auxiliary libraries pulled in also? For example, SDL-image, SDL-sound, SDL-ttf, etc, etc.
