Conferences Pivoting to a Part-Virtual Platform
[IEEE BigDataSE 2020] – Now Taking Place Part-Virtually
The safety and well-being of all conference participants is our priority. After
evaluating the current COVID-19 situation, the decision has been made to
transform the in-person component of the conference into a part-digital
conference experience – the conference will now be a combination of online and
offline event. Therefore, the conference will take place partly in Guangzhou,
China and will also take place part-virtually. The conference dates remain the
same – December 29, 2020 - January 1, 2021. Proceedings will not be cancelled,

Call for WiP Papers
IEEE BigDataSE 2020 provides a forum for engineers and scientists in academia,
industry, and government to address all challenges related to big data science
and engineering and to present and discuss their ideas, results,
work-in-progress and experience on all aspects of big data science and
engineering. In addition to full-length regular papers, IEEE BigDataSE 2020
welcomes Work-in-Progress (WiP) papers showing innovative and original research
in the areas of big data science and engineering. Submissions from both
industry and academia are strongly encouraged.
WiP papers are expected to report on early or ongoing research activities. The
WiP session will provide a forum to discuss novel ideas and emerging results,
presenting innovative applications and tools, and bring about novel research
questions, approaches, and directions.
Submission Guidelines
WiP papers may be no more than 6 pages in length, or at most 2 additional pages
with the pages overlength charge, including figures, tables, and references.
WiP papers are expected to present early or ongoing research activities. Novel
approaches and preliminary results are especially appreciated.
The submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by members of the IEEE BigDataSE
2020 Technical Program Committee. All selected papers will be orally presented
in a special conference session. At least one author of each accepted paper
must register and attend the conference to present the work, with either online
or offline presentation. The accepted papers will be published in the
conference proceedings by IEEE, and will be included in the Digital Library in
IEEE Xplore.
Authors are requested to submit original, unpublished manuscripts in standard
IEEE proceedings format in PDF. All submissions must be typeset in
double-column IEEE format using 10pt fonts on US letter paper, with all fonts
embedded. Submitted papers must include the contact information of all the
authors. Please make sure you use the latest version of the templates to
prepare your submissions. Due to the short interval between the notification of
acceptance and the camera-ready deadline, we strongly encourage authors to
follow the camera-ready formatting guidelines as close as possible.

Best Work-in-Progress Paper Award
The IEEE BigDataSE 2020 will be offering an award recognizing the Best
Work-in-Progress Paper presented at the conference. During the Work-in-Progress
session, your paper will be reviewed by a judging panel selected from the
conference organizing and program committee. Your paper will be judged based on
the novelty, quality of research undertaken and clarity of presentation. The
Best Work-in-Progress Paper will receive an Award Certificate.
