Hello Maik,

Adding support to zypper is just an alternative option, which does not mean
that we will switch to this tool after it reach some production quality.

Subject: [OM Cooker] Switch from urpmi to zypper and Mandriva Business
 Server from Mandriva SA

Hello everyone,

I read the "Summer of Code" projects with great interest and there has
also been discussion about replacing "urpm" with "zypper" from openSUSE.
Bedo's arguments for replacing urpmi made a lot of sense but one thing I
am a bit concerned about is that Mandriva SA offers products based on
Mageia technology and uses Mageia as a base for their products.

Mandriva SA offers an upgrade warranty for the Mandriva Business Server,
see http://serviceplace.mandriva.com for details and if we replace the
package management solution, this gives Mandriva SA one further reason
NOT to pick OpenMandriva to build their technology on and I think it
would be a shame losing Mandriva SA as a partner.

These are some concerns that I have. What are yours thoughts on this?

Have a good week,

Maik "tapwag" Wagner
