The sequel

Quick translation

I'm finally not completely decided about OpenMandriva. Last weekend I made
a very quick test and I was super excited because it worked fine, then
yesterday I tested the distribution in typical use and if there are really
fantastic things to emphasize on, there are also others much darker. The
package manager is strange, installation of packages have be validated all
the time as they are not signed? Suddenly an update will take time and
clicks .. By default, in fact, there are too many completely useless
packets. I can recover further 1GB of space by removing the crappy software
KDE software ( Kmail , ktimer , K * ... ) and especially by removing
support for languages other than French and English (yes I keep English in
case).
If some packages are very up to date, this is not the case for each, and it
will simply ship Pinta 1.0 (I'm sad, I actively use Pinta Linux is the only
tool for easy drawing and offering enough features) , Mono 2.10 (just like
Fedora or Ubuntu, I really wonder why there is a general lock on this
release, it is psychological? what is wrong with the current stable
version 3.2.3
? Do you think Linux users don't care about C# 5 with new API and the new
garbage collector, etc...??!) . There is no version of MonoDevelop (there
at least as it is quick).
Now let's see what works :
- Steam works very well even if we have to tweak the install
- The graphical integration is really neat
- The default font is beautiful, it's nice , really <3
- The responsiveness of the system is very good :)
- The start is very fast , I have never seen at the time a boot Linux
distribution as fast as this one.
- The kernel is up to date (for how long?)
- The control panel is complete, as in Mageia, like Mandrake, it can do
everything and install its drivers (free or vendor) in a few clicks

What about it? What to choose? Mageia or OpenMandriva ? Stay on Kubuntu ? Or
retry Fedora Project?

I will continue to use Open Mandriva currently pending stable version and
continuing to make updates. I sincerely hope that the software offers will
be reviewed in priority, as if for once we have a beautiful and very fast
distribution, it is not enough because after it is also necessary to
exploit it.
