See late reply to Colin's post in line.

Today using build 10433 I was able to partition (select 'Manual Partitioning') / and /home partitions. Furthermore the summary page listed that it was using /dev/sda1 as /boot-efi and formatting /dev/sda11 as ext4 for / and formatting /dev/sda12 as ext4 for /home. Then stated it was installing to ext4 partition /dev/sda11. Kool.

Don't know if this will help Krzysiek Zalewski but would suggest to try new build as installer has improved.

The problem is bigger than looks like. If other partitions exists like Windows partition and I want to delete only root partition and create a new one calamares won't format this partition. Or when I assign mount point to existing partition calamares trying to resize partition. I think there's a problem with geometry of the existing partition.

In this instance it was a new install on new computer. Instead of Calamares doing it I had to used System Rescue CD and gparted. If one boots to Live probably can do so with OMCC as well. I think installer should be able to format partitions other than / if user feels need to do so. Obviously this can be worked around though.

Formating already existing /home is not always good idea.

To answer Colin I started installer and selected 'Manual Partitioning' then:

1. Select /dev/sda1 as keep /boot-efi
2. Select /dev/sda11 as keep and format for /
3. Select /dev/sda12 as keep and format for /home
4. Select /dev/sdc1 as /Data

but as of today and build 10433 this is now working.
