I believe i586 should be left for old distros. At best give support, and
some backports when applicable, and if there are users.

But x32 may be a good plus for OpenMandriva. For the "best cases",
like lots of integer and pointer arithmetic, I have seen reports of up
to 40% improvement on some benchmarks.

x32 should also use quite less memory on very complex programs,
with very large amounts of relocations, etc. I think firefox or chromium
could run and load faster. Quick googling appears llvm and clang
support x32, but there may be issues, like not having a flash plugin.

Thanks,
Paulo
