I'm confused, I thought I was responding to a possible bug about
rpmdrake not working from cli which I'm pretty sure has been fixed.

Bug 1407 is about "Programs cannot connect to x server when internet is
working". Bug 1407 is marked RESOLVED/FIXED.
At any rate rpmdrake is working just fine in fully updated 2014 for me.
