Hi Ben,

then should you view these couple videos..
we should become fast as possible an installer
with an online-rpm-installer like it was on Mandrake and Mandriva
and with it had MDK/MDV in the past the highest success .
Also For more and better fastest testing the rpm's and the dependencies ,
In one hand the well working fresh installing rpm's and the
well play together of the compilation and on the other hand
the possible for testing the dependencies and nothing is missing..
by installation ..

as example, take the beta build 130, install the system ..
add the abf-download cooker
then urpme task-plasma fully, make urpme --auto --auto-orphans
and let the rest flush in the trash.
Behind,
urpmi --auto --auto-update --no-verify-rpm --force-key
then
urpmi --auto task-plasma

oh, husten, we have a problem .. ;)
it missing some packages ..
something become you directly if you use an online rpm-installing
and to be directly in the situation to solve them .. you see ..
this is once of the gooood of rpm-online installer ..
and should still be an standard on our Distro
just because this ..

the new installer anno ~ 2013
was the worst crap of the Century for MDK/MDV !

and this :
http://www.blackysgate.de/files/folder-root/Mandriva-install-movies/
was the best installer ! The Original ! Because, this has work with
dependencies, task's Files and single files as custom + resolve the dependencies

best regards
Blacky

Yes, though I don't know if that fits what the Calamares developer is talking about. It may be that this leads to users being able to add/remove individual packages. If it could also do package groups though I think that could be useful.

Don't think this should be a high priority for OMA.

+1

For one reason would be excellent way for those with older hardware to install only what they need such as task-lxqt or whichever.

Also would perhaps be better for installs for servers or others where very basic system is desired.

There has been a proposal to institute package management within the Calamares
installer. I think we should probably be supporting this.
