It would have helped if you followed that guide. It is not possible to do it your way because there is no 1.10 OMD package for Ubuntu 14.04. And there is a reason why OMD refuses to remove if there are sites using this version. You could create a VM with your old Ubuntu Version, copy the site to that VM. Do the upgrade following the steps from the guide and then copy the upgraded site to the new machine.
