Just like any other software update, run the following with privilege:
pkg update
Also, you can run:
pkg update -n
to get a dry-run and set your expectations (e.g. if you haven't got the recent
kernel fix, you'll find out with -n whether or not you need to reboot).
And if you want BIG details (can be verbose with large numbers of packages);
pkg update -nv
