Gents Only Ladies Forbidden like GOLF, but actually we have lots of dudette members. But provided the fact that the oldest written reference of Golf was in the 15th century and that the English language of this time was probably very different from today's English I have my doubts :-) Some say it's a word borrowed from the ancient Dutch word 'kolv' (= club, bat). Dunno if any variation of that word still is in use in current Dutch, however Golf has become timeless :-) On Fri, Apr 26, 2013 at 8:01 PM, Joe Copeland <[email protected]> wrote: Ever hear the story about how golf got its name?
