Classic!   The DetroitRed Wings will visit the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 
Centennial Classic inToronto. The Original Six rivals head outdoors to 
celebrate the National HockeyLeague's 100th anniversary.  

In the United States:  the last Sunday of regular season NFL meansFootball.

Sunday night football willbring Green Bay (9-6) at Detroit (9-6) in a showdown 
for the NFC North title (withthe loser possibly earning a wild-card berth). 
Aaron Rodgers has thrown 11 Touchdownsand 0 Interceptions on Green Bay's 
current five-game winning streak, butDetroit has been very strong at home, and 
have been winners of their last sixgames at Ford Field.

NCAA Basketball Sunday pits Syracuse vs. BostonCollege in an ACC opener at 
Conte Forum. Then-freshman Tyler Lydon's 20 pointsled the Orange to a 75-61 win 
here last year. The day also features Penn State at Rutgers in Big Ten play 
inPiscataway. Nittany Lions freshman Lamar Stevens and Rutgers junior 
DeshawnFreeman are forwards to watch. Penn State prevailed 70-58 here last 
season.  Marquette, coming away from a convincing winat Georgetown, visits 
Seton Hall this afternoon.  The basketball day concludes this eveningwith 
Washington State at Washington. Wazzu senior forward Josh Hawkinson andHuskies 
freshman star Markelle Fultz highlight this Pac-12 opener at Alaska 
AirlinesArena. UW swept last season's series 99-95 in OT.
England'sPremier League soccer brings Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace and Watford 
vs. Tottenham.  Tottenham is currently leading in that game4-0.  Most other 
national leagues, inEurope and elsewhere, are on rest this week, some for 
several weeks.  

In Cricket, tomorrow (or today already forsome of you) South Africa vs. 
SriLanka, 2nd Test, begins at Cape Town, January 2-6, 2017.  South Africa is 
heavily favored, as Sri Lankais coming from a defeat at Port Elizabeth, and has 
had only a day to rest andpractice.  South Africa coach Russell Domingo said 
"Wewant to win the Test series but more important is the brand of cricket we 
wantto keep playing. We want to play it positive and aggressive..."
