Sports Weekend: Memorial Day

Sports Weekend: Memorial Day Memorial Day in the USA is not a holiday anywhere
else.
We honor Veterans and fallen military.
We visit cemeteries.
We go boating orgrill out with friends.
Fun.
 Summer has begun.
Many sports opportunities abound today, for those who want tolay around in the
air conditioning.

Roland Garros is hosting the first rounds of the week for the French Open. The
Qualifiers endedSaturday, and yesterday the round of 128 began, which continues
throughTuesday.  While often these rounds arenot telecast on network
television, Rafael Nadal, Simone Bolelli and the lotwill be available, in all
their tennis glory, this Memorial Day.  Currently, Rafale Nadal and Simone
Bolelli (check the keywords to see even more great pics of each of these tennis
stars) are facing off, in a match which has been suspended due to heavy rain.
Nadal leads two sets to nil, but in the third set, Bolelli is playing strong.
Whether or not they finish today is anyone's guess, but there is plenty of
other action being televised.  French Open Play continues at Roland Garros
throughout this week with the men's singles Round of 128, the  Round of 64
beginning on Wednesday.

The Stanley Cup finals kick off tonight in grand style.  The finals will  be
between a city known for glitz, and nouveauriche corruption, against the new
Vegas Golden Knights, or so some commentatorssay.  Washington D.C. is that
first city,LOL, and they, the Washington Capitals, and the Vegas Golden
Knights, willoppose each other to win Lord Stanley's Cup.
The Capitals open the series by travelling to Vegas.  The teams play each other
tonight and Wednesdayin Las Vegas, and travel to D.C. to face each other on
Saturday.

In the NBA, more than the requisite excitement was generatedlast night, when
the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Boston Celtics to reach theNBA Finals.  Lebron
James will haveanother chance to play in the Finals, as his Cavaliers beat the
Celtics87-79.
Tonight, The Golden StateWarriors will travel to the Houston Rocket for game
seven of their series.  The winner will be Conference Championships, and will
play the Cavaliers for the overall championship, beginning  later this week.
This space would like to congratulate all of the NBA teams, who have played
hard all season, and have brought lots of energy and excitement to the
playoffs!
