Don't miss today's Grand Final of the Aussie Rules footballseason.  All these
past months of Winter, hard fought competitions have been held throughout the
Aussie Rules Zone.  Today's Grand Finals features the West CoastEagles vs. the
Collingwood Magpies atthe Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Baseball is a long game, the game itself and theseason.  While seasons from
College ondown wrap up the season by mid Summer, the pros play from the opening
ofpreseason in late Winter until, if they are lucky, the World Series,
whichoften now ends in November.

This time of late September is the time when the regularseason wraps up, and
the teams start to talk about magic numbers.  How many wins paired with
opponents losseswill get them in the playoffs. Can they at least get a wild
card spot?  There are teams which have clinched only aWild Card sport who have
won the Series. Anything can happen this time of year, for those lucky few
teams whichhave finished the season near the top.

In the American League, the Boston Red Sox have clinchedtheir division, as well
as the best record in the league.  Houston and Cleveland have also
clinchedtheir divisions.  The New York Yankees, perennial successes, have
clinched the American League Wild Card, along withthe Oakland A's.

The National Leagues still has some toss up.  While the Atlanta Braves have
clinched theirdivision, other teams at the top of the standings have only
assured playoffappearances. These include the Milwaukee Brewers and the
Colorado Rockies.  The Chicago Cubs have also assured aspot.  Fighting for the
last selectionsare the Los Angeles Dodgers and the St. Louis Cardinals.  Games
today should determine this season'splayoff berths, and set up the baseball
calendar for the next few weeks.
