It seems that college football is just beginning every year, when it reaches
the end of the season.  Just under three months of bliss, and we have arrived
at championship Saturday.  Today, or this weekend for some, the various
conferences will play their finals, to determine conference champs throughout
the land.  These games are among the most exciting of the season.  Sure,
there's the "playoff," which still doesn't determine a sole number one in the
land to everyone's satisfaction.  The Bowl Games used to be where the greatest
rivalries were played out.  Instead, today watch for some brilliant action.

Number 10 Washington has already  beaten Number 17 Utah for the Pac-12 title.
The game was a defensive battle, in which the 10-3 final score was already set
in the third quarter.  Meanwhile, the MidAmerican Conference Championship was
won by Northern Illinois University 30-29 over Buffalo on Friday night.

Today's games include the Big 12 Championship, the Texas Longhorns, who have
had a resurgence this year against the Oklahoma Sooners,  the Big 10
Championship, featuring Chicago's Northwestern Wildcats vs. the Ohio State
Buckeyes, and the ACC Conference Championship, featuring the University of
Pittsburgh Panthers vs. the Clemson Tigers.

Likely the most anticipated game on tap today is the SEC Championship this
afternoon.  The SEC is overrated by all the commentators, but it does provide
some fine football.  This afternoon's game features the Alabama Crimson Tide
vs. the Georgia Bulldogs.  Last season’s national finalists have been on a
collision course throughout the fall, and will meet up again today. Alabama
could conceivably still be included in the National Championships with a 12-1
mark should the Crimson Tide come up short against the Bulldogs, but they are
in no mood to test that theory this time around.  Both teams should be playing
some really fine football.
