It is Wild Card Weekend in the NFL, the first weekend of the playoffs.  8 teams
will play for the possibility of being advanced to the Divisional Round next
weekend.  Today's games include a matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and
the Houston Texans, at Houston.  This will not be the only playoff game today,
nor the only game in Texas.  The Dallas Cowboys, later this afternoon, will
host the Seattle Seahawks.  The Los Angeles Chargers will play at the Baltimore
Ravens on Sunday afternoon, and the Chicago Bears will host last year's champs,
the Philadelphia Eagles.

In Australia, India is about to come off with an historic series win in their
Cricket tour of Australia.  Cheteshwar Pujara claimed his third century of the
summer on Thursday to put India in a commanding position in the decisive fourth
and final Test as they strive for the series win in Australia. They have won
two Test matches, whilst Australia has taken only one.

In their fourth tests, At stumps on Day 1, India were 303-4 with No 3
Cheteshwar Pujara unbeaten on 130 and Hanuma Vihari on 39. Mayank Agarwal made
77, with Josh Hazlewood the best of the bowlers with 2-51.

The visitors lead the series 2-1 after winning the opening clash in Adelaide
and the third contest in Melbourne. Australia claimed victory in Perth.  If
India, the world's top-ranked nation, win or draw in Sydney they will clinch a
first-ever series in Australia since they began touring the country in 1947-48.

"We are very happy, although we would have liked to be only three down. That
said 300 for four on the first day, choosing to bat, I think we are in a great
position," said Agarwal, who paid tribute to Pujara.

"It's great to watch him bat from the other end, the way he grinds the bowlers.
He understands his strengths and he sticks with that. He's very tight with his
defence and just waits for the bad ball to come."

When Australia bat, they will have a new-look opening pair with Usman Khawaja
padding up with Marcus Harris after the underperforming Aaron Finch was axed.

Syria versus Palestine emerges as the hottest ticket in the upcoming Asia Cup
of the Asian Football Confederation.  Syrians are planning travel to game sites
for their first game, and have sold out the regular tickets for that game.
Sales for Syria's second game against Jordan, and it's third against Australia,
are also in high demand.  More than half the sovereign nations of the Asian
Football Confederation have teams in the United Arab Emirats for the largest
ever edition of the cup.

The 24-nation event is now the fashion, with this year’s Africa Cup of Nations
also increasing in size, like the Asian Cup, up from 16 finalists, as did
Uefa's 2016 European Championship in France.   The Asia Cup normally offers
exciting action, with very few  draws...  Play begins today in the UAE and
continues until February 1.  This is only the second time the Emirates has
played host. In today's opening match, the UAE hosts Bahrain in a game at the
Zayed Sports City Stadium.

These are the nations involved in the Asia Cup, presented in their respective
Groups:

GROUP A: UAE, Bahrain, India, Thailand

GROUP B: Australia, Syria, Jordan, Palestine

GROUP C: South Korea, China, Kyrgyzstan, Philippines

GROUP D: Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, Yemen

GROUP E: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, North Korea
