The Dubai World Cup takes place today at Meydan Racecourse in NadAl Sheba, 
Dubai, UAE,  with a large crowdexpected to watch the nine races that will be 
held. The racecourse opened in2010, and can seat upwards of 60,000 spectators.  
 

 

Today's is the richest horse racing meetingin the world, with US $35 million  
atstake.  The race day is held annually onthe last Saturday in March that is 
today.    

 

$12m of the prize money will beat stake in the main event, the Dubai World Cup, 
with the focus on whetherGodolphin's Thunder Snow can become the first horse to 
win the race twice,having won just 12 months ago.

 

Godolphin (جودلفين) is the Maktoum family's private Thoroughbred horseracing 
stable and was named in honour of the Godolphin Arabian, who came from the 
desert to become one of the three founding stallions of the modern 
Thoroughbred.  The firm was founded in the early 1990s, and has stables at 
Newmarket and in Australia, and also horses in training in many countries.  
They may very well Improve their record today with Thunder Snow.
