The 2019 Cricket World Cup continues forward in group play in England today. In the ongoing group stage, Australia and New Zealand both lead the standings with 4 points each. Play is never foreordained, even for the top teams. England is reeling a bit after a shocking loss at Nottingham to Pakistan. They next meet Bangladesh, who match their number of points at 2, as both sides currently have one win and one loss. Both England and Bangladesh have beaten South Africa, which is, surprisingly, at the bottom of the standings. At Roland Garros, in French Open Tennis, the second semifinal between world Number 1 Novak Djokovic and fourth seed Dominic Thiem will resume on Saturday after it was held over from Friday because of rain. General bad weather has afflicted the open this week. The pair were level at one set apiece, with Thiem leading 3-1 in the third when the players left the court. Djokovic and Thiem have played daily since Thursday, because of other bad weather, so today will be their third straight day of play. The winner will play a fourth day in a row on Sunday. Earlier Friday, the semifinal match of the century was played between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, with Nadal taking the win in straight sets. Rafa will advance to play the winner of the Djokovic-Thiem showdown on Sunday. These will be Nadals 12th Finals at the French Open, which he has won 11 times. In New York, today, will be the running of the Belmont Stakes in Elmont, New York. The 151st running of the mile-and-a-half "Test of a Champion" at New York's Belmont Park takes place this afternoon, the third of USA horse racing's Triple Crown. Preakness champion War of Will and Derby-winning trainer Bill Mott's Tacitus head the expected field. Justify became the 13th Triple Crown winner in last year's race, but there's no chance of a Triple Crown Winner this year. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "omnisport" group.
