The Bundesliga has reachedtheir Winter break. The season is getting interesting, at least more thanusual at this point in the season. Perennial heroes and foci ofworld attention, Bayern Munich, has jetted off to Qatar for the Winter TrainingCamp. They have abandoned the auld sodwith the arrival of the three kings, at much weaker position than they areexpected to be in any given year,truly. Mid Winter Break finds them atthird place in the Bundesliga standings, at 33 points. They are also trying to shake up their lineupand are at risk of losing good, loyal players. Chief among them are lifer, David Alaba, who is rumored to have PremierLeague's Chelsea next on the docket. Bayernhave won only three of their last five games, dropping the last two. RB Leipzig, who is four forfour in most recent games, heads theoverall standings with 37 points. Theyhave won their last four games. Monchengladbach,who has won three of their last four, is in second place in the standings with35 points. Rounding out the top six arefourth place Dortmund, with 30 points, Schalke04, also with 30 points, and sixth place Bayer, with 26 points. Regular season play in theBundesliga resumes with a Friday night match between Schalke 04 andMonchengladbach, on January 17, with a full slate of competitions that Saturday and Sunday. Wild Card Weekend has comeand gone in the USA's National Football League playoffs. The weekend determined the two teams who willgo to hire ranked team's home stadia next weekend. The Minnesota Vikings facedthe higher seeded New Orleans Saints in overtime this afternoon, with a finalscore of 26-20. The Vikings led throughmuch of the game, Louisiana's finest drew first blood and led by 10 in thefirst half, but once the Vikings turned things around, they never fell behindagain. New Orleans managed to tie thegame with a few seconds left on the clock. Minnesota won the coin toss going into overtime, and scored a touchdownon their first possession. Next weekthey will be heading to San Francisco to face the 49ers in the playoffround. In other news, the NewEngland Patriots were prevented from advancing in the playoffs, and so to yetanother Super Bowl, with their loss tothe Tennessee Titans. The Pats werestunned by the Titan's last score, and lost 13 to 20. The Buffalo Bills lost to the Houston Texansby a score of 19-22 Saturday afternoon. Inthe last game of the weekend, the Seattle Seahawks marched into the mouth ofthe lion as they played at PhiladelphiaStadium. Host Eagles dropped the game17-9, so Seattle also advances to play next weekend.
