Whilst the pre Season AFL has been underway for some time, the regular season is still about a month off.
The Aussie Rules Football League is planning a State of Origin All Star Match, re purposed as a Relief Match to benefit those who have been combating and suffering from the Brush Fires of this Summer (Winter in the North). | | | Trent Cotchin | The Match will take place on February 28th at the Marvel Stadium. A Victorian team will take on an All Stars side, seeing a repeat of the clash between the two teams back in 2008 to celebrate 150 years of the game. Since the game will be played on the same weekend of the Marsh Community pre season matches, players in the all star game are exempt from their teams' matches for the weekend. AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said, "Our industry is heartbroken by the devastation that the fires are causing around the country and our clubs and players have suggested a number of initiatives where we can support affected communities in the short and longer term as they deal with the aftermath of these fires." | | | Luke Mitchell | If you cannot catch the match in person, you might take it in via Fox Footy. Please do donate to the relief...
