Ryan Murphy is an American competitive swimmer who specializes in backstroke. He is a three-time Olympic gold medalist and world-record holder in the men's 100-meter backstroke.
At the 2016 Summer Olympics, Murphy swept the backstroke events by winning gold in the 100- and 200-meter backstroke. He has won several gold medals at Worlds and other competitions, and continued to compete in NCAA competition until graduation. He continues to compete at an elite level.
