I'm bringing this topic back (from nearly two years ago): does anyone care about 32 bit support for Open MPI >= v5.0.0?
I ask because we disabled 32 bit builds on main and v5.0.x about 2 weeks ago (by making configure fail when it is building in a 32-bit environment). A few days ago, we some pushback from the Debian community: https://github.com/open-mpi/ompi/pull/11282#issuecomment-1416364660. Alistair / Debian: did this March 2021 message here on the packagers list fly under your radar? Does Debian actually care about 32 bit support for Open MPI? ________________________________ From: Jeff Squyres (jsquyres) <jsquy...@cisco.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 9, 2021 11:40 AM To: Open MPI Packagers <ompi-packagers@lists.open-mpi.org> Subject: Does anyone care about 32-bit Open MPI? Open MPI packagers -- We're seriously contemplating dropping 32 bit support for Open MPI v5.0 (32-bit support will continue in Open MPI series prior to v5.0.x -- for example, the v4.1.x series will continue to have 32-bit support). Will this be a problem for the downstream Open MPI packagers? -- Jeff Squyres jsquy...@cisco.com
