I think fixing it short term would be ideal - I sent some mail to
pkg-discuss today about 'pkglint', a generic package linting tool that
we'd like to have.

I'd hope that once pkglint was done, we'd have an ON (or generic)
protocmp extension to pkglint that would perform these sorts of checks.
I don't have a timeframe yet for when this work would be completed -
once I get a prototype written, I'll have a better idea.

Does that sound ok?
